All 16 flower blocks are done...

I have started the borders.

The Cowboy hooked up the hay rake...

The hay has been mowed for several days

and it is time to rake it into wind rows...

Rodeo Quilt.....Progress from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I started the design work on the Rodeo panel

in February and I have been pecking away at it

on and off the last few months...

These paper pieced star patterns caught my eye

for a border treatment, but the 6 inch is too

small and the 12 inch is too big...

I enlarged the 6 inch by 150%

and it finishes to a 9 inch block...just right.

It takes 4 sections to make one star block...

Here is the back side of the star block...

Star block ready to trim down to 9 1/2 inches...

It takes ...

Two Bucks A Block Quilt On My New Design Wall from Podunk Pretties

The 2025 Two Bucks a Block quilt will be my first completed project in 2026. This Thangles Block of the Month came from Back Door Quilts, our local quilt shop. Since I’m a fan of quilts big enough to double as portable forts, I decided to make two identical blocks each month and work up my own layout. Here’s a New Year’s Day snapshot of the quilt on my shiny new design wall, which we’ll chat about shortly.

The picture below was taken on January 23, and the quilt is still on the frame and a ...

Rodeo Dreams.....Quilt Panel

This was gifted to me last year...

It's time to put it up on the design wall

and see what shakes out...

I made some strip units in red and white

and sub-cut them and made a checker board...

I placed them around the edge as a possible

border treatment...

I paper pieced a few star blocks...

I like the denim fabric behind the stars...

This is what I have so far.

I plan to make a few cattle brand blocks,

including our brand...

This is the view this morning out our window...

Snowflakes... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I was able to squeeze in some stitching and

finished up the last of the snowflake blocks

Intricate piecing that could only be

done by paper piecing these blocks...

The snowflakes show up really well

against this putty colored background fabric...

Every snowflake is different...

18 snowflake blocks

It took 2 days to rip all the papers off

the back side of the blocks...

The inner border has been added to the panel...

Close up view of inner border...

sparkly snowflakes

The bottom snowflake border

is stitched into place...

The top and bottom borders are on...

Baby Nines... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I am in need of a baby quilt...

This very scrappy nine patch pattern

will work nicely with the scrap fabrics

I have in the bin by my cutting table...

I used 2 inch squares to create the 9 patch blocks,

I had leftover 5 inch charm squares,

also found leftover white background fabric

from a previous quilt...

The 5 inch charm squares

for the center of the quilt

are up on the design wall...

I am placing the 9 patch blocks

around the charm squares...

9 patch blocks make everything better...

It's a good thing this is baby ...

Bear Quilt Top...DONE ! from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I started this Bear Quilt top

I have been stitching on it

in between trips over to the

calving grounds to check for new calves...

Our mornings begin with loading up

hay and driving it over and feeding

it to the mama cows and their calves...

We have 3 orphaned calves this year

so I feed them bottles morning and night...

We check for newborn calves

several times a day,

and tag and vaccinate all new calves...

On the not so busy days...

I get to spend time in the Thread Shed stitching.

Today I put the ...

Bear Quilt....Design Wall from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I am still pecking away at the Bear Quilt

in between runs to the calving grounds

to check for new calves...

This is what it looked like on the design wall

a few weeks ago...

I am not happy with the large bear paw blocks

at the bottom of the quilt.

I cut out smaller bear paw blocks

and pieced a few together...

These will finish at 7 inches square...

Here are a few up on the design wall...

The scale looks better already...

These are a better fit.....aaaah.

Now to piece this puzzle together

and make it all ...

Mod TV....TV Screens from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

This is my Wednesday project

when I meet up with my local quilt group:

Mod TV Quilt

I decided to add a fifth row of TV blocks...

I printed out images on fabric sheets

of some of the favorite shows

from my child hood...

The TV sets now have FUN images

on the screens...

I used fusible web and invisible applique'

to attach them to the TV blocks...

When I look at them I can hear

the TV show theme songs in my head...

Lots of FUN !

They really add to the whole

Mod TV vibe...

Mod TV Quilt...Progress from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

This has been my Wednesday project

the last few weeks...

Mod TV Quilt

I work on it each Wednesday when I meet

up with my local quilt group...

This week I fused all of the TV screens

in place...

The TVs really came alive

when the screens were added...

I am enjoying playing with all of this COLOR

during these dreary winter months...

16 TV screens are in place...

I put them up on the design wall in no

special order...

I moved them around a bit and the

lights and darks are more balanced here...

I used monofilament thread ...

Bear Quilt...Progress from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I am making some progress on

the Bear panel quilt top...

I finished up the tree blocks...

I have decided to try putting together some

mountain blocks for the top border treatment...

I changed up the block pattern so it

measures 12 x 9 inches

I like the way it is coming together,

so I made a few more blocks...

I am thinking bear paw blocks for the

bottom border treatment...

More to come !
